Josiel Konrad released his first jazz albums in 2017 called +Amor and Timeline. Konrad is a virtuoso trombonist, composer and more recently singer. His eclectic musical style is influenced by cool jazz, bossa nova, jazz funk, afro jazz and samba groove. His inspiration is John Coltrane, Urbie Green, Djavan, Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento, Chico Buarque, Trombone Shorty and Gregory Porter.

Born 22 November 1986 Baixada Fluminense in Rio de Janeiro a trombone player since a young age, he learnt to play music in the local church. JK is from a large musical family, his brother taught him to play and read music.

Josiel Konrad plays in all the best jazz clubs and famous venues in Rio, like Circo Voador in Lapa. He has also played at world famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London.

He also has a dueted with pianist Tomás Improta and also played a role in the film about Pixinguinha.

 +Amor :

The album has an unmistakable sound and was inspired by Josiel Konrads authorial compositions bringing together 7 types of love, Love Eros, Love Mania, Love Philia, Love Ludus, Love Agape, Love Pragma, and Love Philautia. Living life to the full  and experiencing  “types and expressions of love,” with a natural fluency, beautiful melodies emerged and took shape in unexpected moments experienced in real events and illustrated by creativity. The album brings a jazzy range or sounds, full of “Brasilidade” and swing and in places uses acoustic instruments to form the unique identity of the album. Josiel sings and plays trombone on the Album +AMOR and has a guest, the famous Brazilian Singer Nina Miranda singing on the Dança do Amor track.

Timeline :

The Time Line album is a collection of own and old compositions with more than 10 years of age, compositions that record their musical journey, their musical growth and their influences coming from the world of jazz, having as main objective the jazz sonority led by the swing Brazilian to play trombone, thus opening doors to glimpse infinite possibilities in improvisations and melodies in the midst of the vitality of syncopated rhythms.
